The first book I read this month was An Enchantment of Ravens. This book was so beautiful, raw, and emotional for me. A fae prince kidnaps a human painter and whisks her away to his realm, and proceeds to fall in love with her. My stinking heart you guys, this world and these characters were just everything I could have asked for. You can read my full review here.
This book in one word: chemistry. Whoa. It was one of the best pairings I’ve read about in a while! This is a romance between a country boy and a city girl who quickly learn a lot about themselves, by falling in love with each other. You can see my full review here.
Sigh. I didn’t enjoy this. The story. Great. The misogyny, I could’ve lived without.

This book was so cute, and everything I needed from a love letter to fandom (this makes more sense in my review, which you can see here!). I thought it was so good, the characters were going to leap off the page and take the story into their own hands. There are two other books in this series, and I cannot wait to read them!
This is a political romance that swept me up in the campaign drama, frenemy dynamics, and ex best friends. I. Ate. It. Up. I could’ve flicked both our main characters right between the eyes for not seeing what they had in front o f them, the way everyone else in this story clearly did. You can see my full review here.
Oh no, you guys. This was another dud for me. It just felt really unfinished, or unedited. There was way too much going on in this story. There were some problematic elements regarding race and consent. But there is a lot of strong potential in terms of the actual plot of this story. While it wasn’t for me, I think people will still enjoy this author’s work. You can see my full review here.
I read two books by Margaret Rogerson this month, and I want to read more!!! This was an incredible story about a girl who grew up in a magical library, where the books are sentient beings, and not everything you’ve been taught should be believed. I ended up reading this book twice and it’s definitely a new favorite. You can see my full review here.
Y’all. I cannot believe we’re ending the month on this note. This. Book. Was. Amazing. It’s my favorite book of 2020 so far. Female pirates, soldiers who have been in training since they were children, sea monsters who are actually demigods, and a slow burn romance that doesn’t overshadow the plot or world building. Now let’s talk about the books I’m currently reading, shall we.
I’m about 70% through The Ruin of Kings. I am LOVING this book so far. I’ve heard it can be very polarizing, but so far I’m all in. I took a break from this one to participate in the readathon this month, and need to find out how this epic story ends.
Did I mention how much I loved Dark Shores? So much, that I stormed Netgalley to get the ARC of the second novel in the series, Dark Skies. This book should be available for purchase everywhere May 5th. And don’t you worry, I’ve already preordered my copy through my local independent bookstore.
No one is more surprised by how this month turned out than I am. I had no idea I’d be participating in a readathon, or that I’d be crushing my Netgalley ARC’s in the process.
